Tel Aviv - Gay Metropolitan
Tel-Aviv is known for its gay friendly atmosphere but why exactly do people refer to Tel-Aviv as one of the cities that lead the way in the gay scene.
Think of a city within a city, the gay community has grown to be so big and developed that for just about every entity of city there is a gay variation, from beaches to nightlife to even public parks. This is one of the reasons why gay travel is so popular in Tel-Aviv. With that said there is no bar/club that the gay community is not welcome to hang out at. There is nothing more casual than two man holding hands walking down the street.
Tel-Aviv prides itself in being one of the most liberal cities in the world in term of equality of sexual minorities. If once, in the 80's the gay scene was insignificant and not felt, today it is in the front leading the public opinion. You know that if the gay community mark an attraction in Tel-Aviv it's likely to be a big hit.
Today, the gay community is an indispensible part of the Tel-Aviv culture and represent 17 percent of the 403,000 population in Tel-Aviv.
Important to note is the Gay Center which acts as nesting place for the G.L.B.T organizations. It also serves as a cultural center for art, dance, theater and music.
